Brexit Information for Staff
Although Article 50 has been triggered there is currently no change to the status of EU/EEA/Swiss nationals living and working in the UK.
The UK Government has yet to set out its position on the status of EU/EEA/Swiss nationals who currently live and work in the UK once the UK has left the EU.
Briefing sessions for staff
We have arranged briefing sessions for all EU staff with our legal partners Magrath LLP. EU staff at UAL can book a place using Employee Self Service or email firstname.lastname@example.org. The briefing sessions will cover the following topics:
- EU nationals living outside of the UK following Brexit
- EU nationals living in the UK for less than 5 years – Registration Certificate
- EU nationals living in the UK for more than 5 years – Permanent Residence
- Application for British Citizenship
We expect to provide much more support to our EU staff during the coming months and years. Staff with questions or concerns should speak with their line manager or local Human Resources Business Partner.
European Research Council / Horizon 2020 funding
There is no immediate impact on funding and we encourage UAL staff to continue to apply for EU funding where appropriate.
Chancellor Phillip Hammond has confirmed that structural and investment funds projects signed before the Autumn Statement and Horizon research funding granted before we leave the EU will be guaranteed by the Treasury after we leave. There is more information about EU funding on the Gov UK website.
Erasmus+ and staff mobility
There is no immediate change to the Erasmus+ programme.
UAL staff can continue to develop their professional and personal skills as part of Erasmus+ programme and UAL continues to welcome incoming staff members from those countries that participate in the Erasmus+ programme. While we cannot predict the outcome of Article 50 negotiations and the impact it will have on Erasmus+ funding, it should be noted that countries outside the EU/EEA (such as Turkey, Switzerland and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia) participate in the Erasmus+ programme.
